Infielder Jorge Cantu has agreed to a non-guaranteed deal with the Padres worth around 850,000 dollars, according to multiple reports.
A seven-year veteran, Cantu averaged 22 homers and 97 RBIs in 2008 and '09, but his production dropped off last season.
Cantu hit 11 home runs and posted a .256 average in 127 games between the Marlins and Rangers last season. He will likely be a right-handed bench player, seeing most of his time at first and third base.
