After losing Aaron Laffey to the Kanas City Royals earlier today, the New York Yankees lost another pair of relievers from the organization the club announced via Twitter. The moves opened up three spots on the Yankees 40-man roster, which now sits at 37.
Left-handed reliever Raul Valdes and right-handed reliever Scott Proctor both elected free agency, after being outrighted off the major league roster.
Valdes, 33, was acquired off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals in mid-August. He threw only 11 1/3 innings for the Yankees between the minors and majors, 6 2/3 of which came at the majors
Scott Proctor rejoined the Yankees in mid-August, when he was acquired off waivers from the Atlanta Braves. Proctor threw 18 innings out of the 'pen for the Yankees, 11 at the major league level. In the 11 innings, Proctor allowed more walks (12) than innings pitched (11) or strikeouts (11). He also allowed 11 runs in that short span as well.
