Multiple reports around baseball are indicating that catcher Ryan Doumit is close to signing with a team, and one of those teams could be the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Jerry Cransick says that he has offers from two teams today. He is expected to sign in the next few days, Doumit's agent Paul Cobbe told Cransick of ESPN. Doumit says that he could be catcher, right field and designated hitter for a team.
One of the offers today came from a National League team, thought he seems like the perfect fit for an American League club. The Pittsburgh Pirates declined his option at the end of this season.
Doumit was injured for most of the 2011 season, and he had just 236 plate appendices. He hit .303 with an OBP of .353. Some of the teams speculated to be interested are the Angels, Boston Red Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays.
