Cleveland Indians Close to Signing Grady Sizemore?

UPDATE Saturday : Paul Hoynes describes the rumored deal: "It would include a low base salary but enough performance bonuses to where he could earn at least $9 million if he's able to play a full season and produce the kind of offense he did from 2005 through 2008. In fact, it's believed a deal like that was discussed before Sizemore's option was declined."

Friday: Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports is reporting via tweet that the Cleveland Indians are very close to re signing free agent outfielder Grady Sizemore to a one year deal. Other teams that had been reportedly interested were the Boston Red Sox and Colorado Rockies.

One of Rosenthal's sources says that the deal is very likely and almost complete, while the other says the chances of it getting complete are 70-30. Still, it seems like Sizemore will likely be wearing the blue and red of the Indians in the 2012 season.S

Sizemore has been injury prone over his career to say the least, but when healthy has proven to be a very productive player and he would have been a good low risk high reward player for an outside team, but the Indians felt like they should keep him around for his potential.

Stay tuned to MLB Daily Dish as we gather more details on this story and as the deal becomes official, whether in Cleveland or elsewhere.
