The North Siders have been prominent in the news today. Here's some bits and pieces that concern the Cubs you might have missed:
- Mets Listening: Who Is the Wright Fit? Jim Breen over at Fangraphs broke down some possible teams that may be suitors for the Mets and David Wright. New President Theo Epstein has already said, "Likely he’ll be moving on" in regards to Aramis Ramirez. It isn't yet clear how much the Cubs will look to add onto their salary, but have some room to play with. It would sure be a salary dump for the Mets, but may prove difficult until Zambrano's contract is able to come off of the books.
- Mike Maddux removes name from consideration for Red Sox job, will interview with Cubs I'm not sure how much we can read into the Aaron Gleeman story today, especially with the inserted tweet from Peter Gammons. It may be hard however, to find someone to help the aforementioned Zambrano as Jon Heyman wrote.
- The Cubs also made the hiring of Joe Bohringer official as pro scout today.

Chicago Cubs: Dale Sveum interviews for Cubs' managerial position; Mike Maddux on deck - chicagotribune.com
"The Cubs and Boston have three of the same managerial candidates on their early interviews list, so when one of them pulls out of consideration for one vacancy while confirming he'll interview for the other, the intrigue gets thick."
