Sounds like the Yu Darvish extravaganza could be overshadowing a neat development: Jon Heyman is reporting that the New York Yankees placed a bid on Darvish, but they might actually be more interested in Hiroki Kuroda. Ken Rosenthal and Troy Renck reported yesterday that the Diamondbacks and Rockies are taking a look at him as well, which (my speculation) could drive up his price as legitimate starting options are running short:

  • Yankees, Rockies, others like Kuroda - CBSSports.com
"Kuroda is much lighter on buzz, but some teams actually prefer Kuroda, as he is the proven one in the majors. The Yankees, who are said to have placed a "modest" bid on Darvish and have no expectation of winning the posting process, seem to almost prefer Kuroda, anyway."
