Seth Smith Rumors: Possible Trade Destinations

With the Rockies bringing Michael Cuddyer on board (on a three-year deal), outfielder Seth Smith has become expendable. The Rockies, in search of young pitching, had been shopping Smith before the Cuddyer signing, but the move only makes a Smith trade all the more likely. Smith, 29, isn't set to become a free agent until 2015. In roughly 500 career games, he's posted a .275/.348/.485 (110 OPS+), while rating as a mediocre defender.

Jon Morosi of FOX Sports lists several possible destinations for the left-handed hitter: the Reds, Mariners, Cardinals, Athletics, and the Braves. The Mariners were said to have had interest a few weeks ago, and the Rockies had reportedly offered Smith to Atlanta in exchange for Martin Prado.
