The San Diego Padres have hired former Mets General Manager Omar Minaya and plan to make him Vice President according to Jon Heyman and SI. He will serve as VP, evaluating trade, draft, and international options for the team:

"Minaya, 53, became the first Hispanic general manager in baseball history when the Montreal Expos hired him in 2002. He ran the Mets from 2004 through 2010, when he was fired along with manager Jerry Manuel. The Padres will give Minaya a position along the lines of vice president of baseball operations, The Associated Press reported, citing a person familiar with the negotiations."
