Tom Haudricourt of the Journal-Sentinel just blasted us with several Brewers updates. He reports that the team is actively trying to sign Jerry Hairston Jr., there's no movement with Fielder yet, the team will not (despite previous rumors) bid on Nakajima, and they're looking at "many" solutions for shortstop:
-
Brewers Trying to Sign Jerry Hairston Jr, Needs 2-Year Deal - @Haudricourt
#Brewers Doug Melvin says the only infielder he is actively trying to sign at this point is Jerry Hairston Jr. Probably will take 2-yr deal. -
Brewers NOT in talks with Boras regarding Fielder (yet?) - @Haudricourt
#Brewers GM Doug Melvin said he has no ongoing talks with Prince Fielder's agent, Scott Boras, and no proposals have been exchanged. -
No Bid On Nakajima - @Haudricourt
Brewers GM Doug Melvin told me he will not make a bid on Japanese SS Hiroyuki Nakajima. Today is the deadline for doing so. -
Team looking on several SS options - @Haudricourt
Brewers are checking in on many SS, including Rollins, Gonzalez, Furcal and will talk again to Betancourt's agent in Dallas. -
Brewers To Lose Chris Bosio to Cubs - @Haudricourt
Cubs haven't made announcement but appears #Brewers preparing to lose Chris Bosio to them as their new pitching coach. Need AAA replacement. -
...and Bill Castro to Orioles - @Haudricourt
And former #Brewers coach Bill Castro seems headed for Baltimore to be bullpen coach there. Good luck to Bill there.
