Among several suitors, the Detroit Tigers have emerged as a possible destination for Cubs starting pitcher Matt Garza, according to Jon Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
"Interest in Garza has picked up recently, major-league sources say, and the Tigers are involved. Multiple teams are pursuing Garza aggressively, increasing the odds that the right-handed starter will be dealt before spring training."
Along with the Tigers, it's been reported the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays are also in on Matt Garza. The Tigers pursued other starting pitchers, like Gio Gonzalez, and were willing to part with top prospects for a younger and cheaper pitcher in Gonzalez.
The Red Sox are a suitor, but the team may not have the necessary prospects to acquire Garza after sending a pair to the Oakland Athletics for Andrew Bailey. Meanwhile, the Yankees aren't looking to enter the luxury tax area, but would have the prospects to acquire Garza.
