With Jose Reyes signing with the Miami Marlins last night, there are only a few options left for Hanley Ramirez. The Marlins could move him to third base, or, most likely, the Marlins could trade him. Here are the rumors on Ramirez today.
First, let's take a look at where Hanley has been linked to before. Back in 2006, the Boston Red Sox traded Ramirez to Florida for Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell. in 2008, they tried to trade for him back. However, with Theo Epstein gone, we have to keep in mind that it was then assistant GM's Jed Hoyer and Ben Cherington who made that trade. With Cheringon in office now, and Jose Iglesias coming up in the ranks, I don't see this trade happening.
On SBNation's Red Sox blog, Over the Monster, Ben Buchanan asks if the Red Sox will take a look at Ramirez again. He mentions that the Red Sox have a solid shortstop option in Marco Scutaro, making this one of the few years that the Red Sox have a shortstop.
What do you think? Could Ramirez be an option in Boston?
