Angels Pushing For C.J. Wilson

Earlier today, it was reported C.J. Wilson has a six-year deal offer on the table for him from a team other than the Texas Rangers. Eventually news came out the Washington Nationals were the mystery team, but those rumors were debunked within the same hour.

According to FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi, the Angels are making a serious push to bring the Southern California native back home. How serious? Well, they talked with Wilson's agent once again late Monday night, reports Scott Miller of CBS Sports. That may mean the Angels are the mystery team, but I just don't see their front office willing to go six-years for any pitcher. On the contrary, new Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto hasn't been shy in expressing his interest to acquire the southpaw.

If the Angels can acquire Wilson, it'll be interesting to see over how many years and the total value of the contract. Remember, ace Jered Weaver went against his super-agent Scott Boras' advice by signing an extension and giving the them a hometown discount.
