Here's a roundup of all of today's rumors about the Chicago Cubs free agent third baseman Aramis Ramirez as the winter meetings continue.
According to Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Press, the Philadelphia Phillies are hard after Ramirez to be their third baseman. The Phillies are worried about their current third baseman Placido Polanco, who underwent double hernia surgery this offseason.
The Phillies are not alone in interest in Ramirez, though. The Los Angeles Angels, Milwaukee Brewers and Miami Marlins have also expressed interest. Ramirez has made it known that he is looking for a three- or a four-year deal, ideally with a player option at the end of either one.
The Marlins interest may decrease with Jose Reyes now on board, but if they end up trading Hanley Ramirez they use a third baseman, as they plan to move Emilio Bonifacio to center field. We know that the Angels have interest, and they reportedly made an offer before the winter meetings.
