The Boston Red Sox have had a bust of an offseason so far, without any major acquisitions yet. Here are some rumors surrounding the team during the winter meetings.

  • Rob Bradford of WEEI looks at what the Red Sox can do with their pitching staff, and talks about what role we will see Daniel Bard in during the 2012 season.
  • Sean McAdam from Comcast Sportsnet New England says that Red Sox utility infielders Jed Lowrie and Mike Aviles are drawing a lot of interest at the winter meetings.
  • Matthew Kory from Over the Monster, the SBNation blog for the Boston Red Sox, tries to solve the closer problem in Boston. He looks at options such as Ryan Madson, Andrew Bailey, Francisco Cordero, Francisco Rodriguez and Brad Lidge.
  • Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald says that Texas Rangers owner Nolan Ryan spoke about pitchers converting from relievers to starters at the winter meetins, and speculates what it could mean for Daniel Bard of the Red Sox.
