Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira has announced that he is leaving the Boras Corporation after 12 years of being represented by Scott Boras.
Teixeira says he had a great relationship business wise with Boras, but that after 12 years together sometimes it's time to make a little bit of a change. He has not yet selected a new agent.
Teixeira's contract runs through 2016, so he will be 36 coming into his contract year. There is no need to have (or pay) an agent like Boras when you are under contract and he has no real services to provide. He handles all his charity work through a separate group, so he does not need a super agent if he is fulfilling maybe 25 percent of the players' needs.
