Teams making moves before Opening Day

 

  • The Royals have acquired catcher Matt Treanor from the Rangers for cash, according to SI.com. Treanor, 35, hit .211 with 5 home runs in 82 games last season, and hit a home run in the ALCS against the Yankees. The Royals selected Treanor back in the day, in 1994 to be exact, but he was traded to the Marlins in 1997. 
  • The Yankees released Ronnie Belliard, but are keeping pitcher Mark Prior in extended spring training to make sure he is fully ready to go for this season. He has a 1.17 ERA over 7 2/3 innings. Eric Chavez has made the roster as a reserve infielder. 
  • The Orioles cut Mark Hendrickson and David Riske from big league camp, according to ESPN.com.
  • The Dodgers and Chad Billingsley have agreed to a three-year, 30 million dollar deal, according to Joe McDonnell's Twitter.
