Angels place Vernon Wells on disabled list

The Angels have placed outfielder Vernon Wells on the disabled list with a strained groin, according to FOXSPORTS.com. Wells is batting just .183 with 4 home runs in 35 games this season, so two weeks off may be the rest he needs to find his groove.

Remember, the Angels desperately wanted Carl Crawford before he signed with the Red Sox, but settled for Wells in a trade after seeing no viable options on the market after CC. This is Wells' first DL stint since 2008, but the fifth of his career.

Wells has four years and 86 million dollars left on his deal.
