Hendry discusses why he optioned Colvin to Triple-A Iowa after Monday's loss: http://bit.ly/k3gy8a
|2011 - Tyler Colvin||28||62||3||7||3||0||2||8||6||17||0||0||.113||.191||.258|
That's a line to make Tony Pena, Jr. blush!
Carrie Muskat follows up:
#Cubs GM Hendry on Colvin: "It wasn't that he wasn't given enough at-bats. He didn't earn enough at-bats." Colvin was hitting .113
...and the surest sign of impending doom? The deathiest knell for any team, Cubs hold a team meeting. Carrie covers that, too:
“Nothing’s [bleeping] easy up here,” Quade said. “You got a nice 4-0 lead and Z’s cruising and everything’s hunky dory — I got news for you, it aint routine until the freaking thing is over. We’ve just got to make [darn] sure we’re looking for every opportunity to add on when we get it and we’re looking for every opportunity to close things out when we get a chance. We’re not good enough to coast at all in any aspect of the game.”
Since Iowa is still playing its game as of this writing, no corresponding roster move has yet been made to replace Colvin. Predictions?
