Freshly Back:

Minnesota Twins 2B Tsuyoshi Nishioka: Nishioka was on the DL for a total of 68 days after being placed there April 8th with a fractured left fibula. He was injured in a collision with Nick Swisher at second base. This is Nishioka's first major league season after spending the first part of his career in Japan. He is batting .208 with a .269 on base percentage thus far. He did not start last night's game, but should start at shortstop today, according to Rhett Bollinger. Dusty Hughes was outrighted to Triple-A Rochester.
- Chicago Cubs LF Alfonso Soriano: Soriano was on the DL for a total of 15 days after being placed there May 31st with a strained left quadriceps. Soriano has been enjoying a little bit of a rebound year after two straight poor seasons. Darwin Barney was sent to the DL.
- St. Louis Cardinals RHP Kyle McClellan: McClellan was on the DL for a total of 15 days after being placed there May 31st with a left hip flexor strain. He had been filling in for the injured Adam Wainwright and was performing about as well as expected with a 3.86 ERA and a 1.7 K/BB ratio. Matt Carpenter was optioned to Triple-A Memphis.

Atlanta Braves RF Jason Heyward: Heyward was on the DL for a total of 24 days after being placed there May 22nd with right shoulder soreness. He has already missed 73 days in his young career to injury. Matt Young was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Newly Gone:
- Baltimore Orioles RHP Alfredo Simon - 15-Day DL retroactive to June 13th, Right hamstring strain: Simon has only pitched 14 innings this year after being detained in the Dominican Republic in connection with the shooting of his cousin. Jason Berken was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk.
- Houston Astros RHP Brandon Lyon - 7-Day DL, Biceps tendinitis: Lyon just returned from the disabled list on June 10th from this same injury. He gave up eight runs in two innings pitched in that time. Fernando Abad was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
- Chicago Cubs 2B Darwin Barney - 15-Day DL retroactive to June 14th, Left knee sprain: Barney had been a pleasant surprise for the Cubs this season, batting .294. He was injured on a slide while scoring the winning run on June 13th against the Milwaukee Brewers. Alfonso Soriano was brought back from the DL.
