The DL on the DL (Weekend Edition)

Updates from around Major League Baseball on players who are "freshly back" from the disabled list or "newly gone" to the DL.

Freshly Back:
  • Cleveland Indians DH Travis Hafner: Hafner was on the DL for a total of 30 days after being placed there May 18th with a strained right oblique. Travis Buck was optioned to Triple-A Columbus.
  • Los Angeles Dodgers RHP Kenley Jansen: Jansen was on the DL for a total of 20 days after being placed there May 29th with right shoulder inflammation. Josh Lindblom was optioned to Double-A Chattanooga.
  • Los Angeles Dodgers LHP Hong-Chih Kuo: Kuo was on the DL for a total of 40 days after being placed there May 10th with a psychological issue. Ramon Troncoso was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque.
  • Atlanta Braves CF Nate McLouth: McLouth was on the DL for a total of 27 days after being placed there May 23rd with a strained left oblique. Joe Mather was designated for assignment.
  • San Diego Padres 2B Orlando Hudson: Hudson was on the DL for a total of 24 days after being placed there May 26th with a left groin strain. Logan Forsythe was optioned to Triple-A Tucson.
  • Washington Nationals LHP Tom Gorzelanny: Gorzelanny was on the DL for a total of 26 days after being placed there May 24th with left elbow inflammation. Rick Ankiel was placed on the disabled list.


Newly Gone:
  • Boston Red Sox SS Jed Lowrie - 15-Day DL, Sore left shoulder. Drew Sutton was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket.
  • Colorado Rockies C Jose Morales - 60-Day DL, Fractured right thumb. Matt Pagnozzi was called up from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
  • Atlanta Braves RHP Tommy Hanson - 15-Day DL retroactive to June 13th, Right shoulder tendinitis. Randall Delgado was recalled from Double-A Mississippi
  • Cleveland Indians 1B Matt Laporta - 15-Day DL, Sprained right ankle. Travis Buck was recalled from Triple-A Columbus.
  • Boston Red Sox LF Carl Crawford - 15-Day DL, Left hamstring strain. Josh Reddick was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket.
  • Los Angeles Dodgers C Rod Barajas - 15-Day DL, Sprained right ankle. A.J. Ellis was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque.
  • Boston Red Sox RHP Clay Buchholz - 15-Day DL retroactive to June 17th, Lower back strain. Andrew Miller was called up from Triple-A Pawtucket.
  • Washington Nationals CF Rick Ankiel - 15-Day DL retroactive to June 15th, Left intercostal strain. Tom Gorzelanny was activated from the disabled list.
