The DL on the DL
Updates from around Major League Baseball on players who are "freshly back" from the disabled list or "newly gone" to the DL.
Freshly Back:
- Detroit Tigers 3B Brandon Inge: Inge was on the DL for a total of 21 days after being placed there June 2nd with mononucleosis. Adam Wilk was optioned to Triple-A Toledo.
Newly Gone:
- Philadelphia Phillies RHP Jose Contreras - 15-Day DL retroactive to June 20th, Right forearm strain. Contreras strained his elbow earlier in the season and was out for 34 days. Juan Perez was called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
- Oakland Athletics LF Josh Willingham - 15-Day DL retroactive to June 18th, Strained left Achilles. Chris Carter was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento. Carter made his major league debut last year, playing in 24 games with a .186 batting average. In parts of three seasons in Triple-A, he has a .255 batting average and 40 home runs in 161 games.
