Updates from around Major League Baseball on players who are "freshly back" from the disabled list or "newly gone" to the DL.

Freshly Back:

• Minnesota Twins DH Jim Thome: Thome was on the DL for a total of 23 days after being placed there June 2nd with a strained left quadriceps muscle. Rene Tosoni was optioned to Triple-A Rochester.
  
• Kansas City Royals LHP Bruce Chen: Chen was on the DL for a total of 49 days after being placed there May 6th with a strained left lat muscle. Everett Teafordi was optioned to Triple-A Omaha.
• Philadelphia Phillies C Brian Schneider: Schneider was on the DL for a total of 43 days after being placed there May 12th with a strained left hamstring. Roy Oswalt was placed on the DL.
• Minnesota Twins RHP Joe Nathan: Nathan was on the DL for a total of 23 days after being placed there June 2nd with a right flexor muscle strain. Jim Hoey was optioned to Triple-A Rochester.
• Cincinnati Reds LHP Aroldis Chapman: Chapman was on the DL for a total of 31 days after being placed there May 24th with left shoulder inflammation.
• San Francisco Giants LHP Barry Zito: Zito was on the DL for a total of 69 days after being placed there April 17th with a right mid-foot sprain. Jonathan Sanchez was placed on the DL.
  
• Cincinnati Reds RHP Homer Bailey: Bailey was on the DL for a total of 30 days after being placed there May 27th with a sprained posterior capsule in his right shoulder. Carlos Fisher was optioned to Triple-A Louisville.
  

Newly Gone:

• Minnesota Twins CF Denard Span - 15-Day DL, Concussion. Span had previously been on the 7-Day concussion disabled list.
  
• Philadelphia Phillies RHP Roy Oswalt - 15-Day DL, Lower back inflammation. Craig M Williams covered this on Friday. Brian Schneider was activated from the disabled list.
  
• San Francisco Giants LHP Jonathan Sanchez - 15-Day DL, Left biceps tendinitis. Barry Zito was activated from the DL.
  
• Cleveland Indians RF Shin-Soo Choo - 15-Day DL, Fractured left thumb. Travis Buck was recalled from Triple-A Columbus.
  
• Minnesota Twins LF Delmon Young - 15-Day DL, Right ankle sprain. Rene Tosoni was recalled from Triple-A Rochester.
  
• Chicago White Sox LHP John Danks - 15-Day DL, Strained right oblique. Hector Santiago was recalled from Double-A Birmingham.
