We already knew that the St. Louis Cardinals had at least some interest in trading center fielder Colby Rasmus, but apparently the club is upping its efforts. According to Danny Knobler of CBS Sports, the Cardinals are now "shopping Rasmus widely" in search of the right now.
Knobler adds that the Nationals and Giants have been watching St. Louis lately; Washington has long been searching for a long-term solution in center, and San Francisco is apparently looking at Rasmus as a possible alternative to Carlos Beltran. Additionally, we've already heard about previous interest from the White Sox, and Jon Morosi reported earlier today that the Mariners checked in as well.
It's not clear what the Cardinals want in return for the 24-year-old, as the club is still in contention and likely will want some immediate help in any deal, but it's hard to imagine a deal going down without any prospects involved.
