In order to open a spot on their roster for the returning Erik Bedard, the Seattle Mariners have designated Jack Cust for assignment. The 32-year-old Cust was hitting .213/.344/.329 with three HR's in 270 PA's for the Mariners in 2011.

Cust is your classic Moneyball type player. He can't run or field, but has a great eye and has power. Or should I say, used to have power. 2011 represents the fifth year in a row that Cust's ISO has dipped. It was at a career-low .116 at the time of his release.

Now that Cust can't run, field, or hit for power anymore, he will be hard pressed to find a major league job.
