Recapping yesterday's (08/20/11) minor transactions:
- The San Diego Padres have designated right-handed pitcher Pat Neshek for assignment to make room for another right-handed pitcher Erneseto Frieri per North County Times' Dan Hayes. Neshek is posting a 4.01 ERA with more walks (22) than strikeouts (20) this season in 24.2 innings.
- The Toronto Blue Jays have signed starting pitcher Kyle Davies to a minor league deal. Davies, 27, was released earlier in the month by the Kansas City Royals after posting a 6.75 ERA in 61.1 innings of work.

- The Cincinnati Reds opened up a spot on the 40-man roster by releasing reliever Philippe-Alexandre Valiquette. A reliever with a big fastball, but never developed anything to go along with it. You can read more on this transaction here.
- The Philadelphia Phillies released reliever Aaron Heilman and designated hitter/outfielder Jack Cust. Both players were on minor-league deals playing for the Phillies Triple-A affiliate. You can read more on the transactions here.
