Minor Moves: Williams, Molina, Archer

Let's round up the latest minor moves:

  • Yankees catcher Gustavo Molina has cleared waivers and was outrighted to Class Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre, according to Scranton Times-Tribune's Donnie Collins. Molina, 29, was designated for assignment several days ago to make room for left-handed reliever Aaron Laffey.
  • Red Sox left-handed reliever Randy Williams cleared waivers and was outrighted to Class Triple-A Pawtucket, according to WEEI's Alex Speier. Williams, 35, was designated for assignment by the Red Sox on the 15th of August to to clear a roster spot for catcher/designated hitter Ryan Lavarnway
  • One day after being named Southern League Pitcher of the Week, the Rays promoted right-handed pitcher Chris Archer to Triple-A Durham, according to Marc Topkin of the St. Pete Times. Archer is struggling this year, and the walks continue to be an issue, but the pitcher has been more like himself in the second half of the season. Archer was part of the deal that sent pitcher Matt Garza to the Chicago Cubs.
