UPDATE 12:58PM EST: Ken Rosenthal is now saying that Cleveland won the claim on Thome, and Chicago won the claim on Kubel. We'll have a new post up shortly.
Sources are telling Buster Olney that the Cleveland Indians are currently discussing a trade with the Minnesota Twins, presumably for Jim Thome and Jason Kubel. Both were claimed by a team on Wednesday, but the thought was that it was the Chicago White Sox. The Sox have a worse record than the Indians and would have won the claim, and the assumption is that they would claim both just to block Cleveland.
The Indians are 6 games back, the White Sox are 6.5 games back. Other than blocking the Indians, Chicago could also use one of them to replace the suddenly terrible Adam Dunn.
