The struggling Giants -- who have gone 10-21 over their last 31 games -- have designated Aaron Rowand and Miguel Tejada for assignment.
Tejada, hitting .239/.270/.326, signed a one-year $6.5MM contract with the Giants this offseason. Rowand (.233/.274/.347), meanwhile, is under contract through 2012, and is set to make $12MM next year.
The Giants will try to trade both of them, maybe as soon as today, tweets Andrew Baggarly. In corresponding moves, the Giants have called up Brett Pill and activated Pat Burrell from the disabled list.
