Cubs Notes: Tom Ricketts Interview, Matt Garza Rumors, Cuban Prospects

The Chicago Cubs remain one of the more intriguing teams this off-season. The past few days we've seen increased rumors/chatter/discussion of moving Matt Garza, with a number of teams interested and dangling some of their own top prospects to entice a deal. We also have a really great 3-part interview of Tom Ricketts, and a couple signed Cuban prospects:

  • New year, more rumors - Carrie Muskat
    "The Marlins, Yankees, Red Sox and Blue Jays also have reportedly been in touch with the Cubs about Garza, but Theo & Co would have to be overwhelmed with a package of top prospects to part with the right-hander."
  • Cubs sign two Cuban prospects - Chicago Tribune
    "The outfielder is Yasiel Balaquert, a 19-year-old with "modest tools," according to the magazine. The pitcher is Carlos Martinez, 20, a 6-foot-4 right-hander who was mainly a reliever in Cuba."
