According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN, the Mariners have signed RHP Aaron Heilman to a minor-league deal, with an invite to Spring Training. Heilman, 32, signed with the Diamondbacks a year ago, and when they released him, he went and signed with the Phillies. They soon released him, so he signed with a third organization -- the Pirates.
Anyway, Heilman has bounced around a lot lately, which isn't surprising given his poor performance. He was quite ineffective in 32 appearances with Arizona in 2011, as he allowed 28 runs in 35 innings. He did, however, manage to post a 101 ERA+ over 144 innings with Chicago and Arizona from 2009 to 2010.
