11:55AM EST: Troy Renck of the Denver Post is reporting it's a minor league deal with an invite to spring training (twitter).
11:29AM EST: The Cleveland Indians have agreed to a deal with Ryan Spilborghs, according to Troy Renck and confirmed by Jon Heyman. This confirms the rumor we heard from Heyman a few days ago in which the Texas Rangers were also interested.
Spilborghs, 32, spent each of his first seven seasons with the Rockies, and his clubhouse presence will be missed, says Renck. Spilly is a career .272 hitter, but has only played more than 100 games twice. Still, he should be able to help and potentially stabilize a reeling-from-"Carmona" team, which will need as many positives as it can get:
- Twitter / @TroyRenck - "Ryan Spilborghs likely to sign w Indians..Personality will be missed. Never covered a player like him. Always upbeat, funny, clubhouse glue."
- Twitter / @JonHeymanCBS - "ryan spilborghs agrees with #indians. @TroyRenck mentioned 1st."
