According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN, the New York Mets have interest in right-handed hitting free agent outfielder Cody Ross. Ross, 31, has played all three outfield positions throughout his eight-year career, and he'd presumably see extended time in centerfield were he to sign with New York.
Ross spent 2011 with the San Francisco Giants, where he hit .240/.325/.405 with 14 home runs in 121 games. Baseball-Reference had him valued at 1.6 wins above replacement for the 2011 season. To date, he's a career .261/.323/.456 (105 OPS+) hitter in just over 2500 plate appearances.
