Hold Up, Wait a Sec, What? MLBDD Week 3 In Review

Not gonna lie -- the past week was one of the busiest we've ever had, both with signings and rumors and with new readers. Needless to say we're extremely pleased at both the work and the recognition! Thanks so much for joining us.

One thing I'm making a point to do weekly is a quick review on Monday mornings, covering every non-rumor you might have missed over the past week. This week was pretty heavy with arbitration news and a couple big trades, so I'm going to link the most relevant and impacting. Starting with the oldest, to the newest, here are the major stories of the past week:

• Colorado Rockies, Seth Smith Avoid Arbitration - MLB Daily Dish
  The Colorado Rockies and Seth Smith have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.42 million contract.
• Oakland Athletics Acquire Seth Smith - MLB Daily Dish
  Just after they signed him to a one-year, $2.4M contract to avoid arbitration, the Colorado Rockies have traded outfielder Seth Smith to the Oakland Athletics according to Colorado's team twitter account. The Rockies in return acquire pitchers Josh Outman and Guillermo Moscoso.

• Cincinnati Reds, Jose Arredondo Closing In On 2-Year Deal - MLB Daily Dish
  The Cincinnati Reds are close to signing righty reliever Jose Arredondo to a two-year deal, according to Jon Heyman. A two year deal would cover two of his four arbitration seasons.

• San Francisco Giants, Angel Pagan Avoid Arbiration - MLB Daily Dish
  San Francisco Giants and Angel Pagan agree to a one-year deal to avoid arbitration

• Tampa Bay Rays, J.P. Howell Avoid Arbitration - MLB Daily Dish
  The Tampa Bay Rays and southpaw J.P. Howell agreed to a one-year deal to avoid arbitration.

• Cincinnati Reds to Sign Ryan Ludwick - MLB Daily Dish
  The Cincinnati Reds are set to sign Ryan Ludwick to a one-year deal with a mutual option for 2013, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports via twitter.

• Giants Sign Melky Cabrera to 1-Year, $6M Deal - MLB Daily Dish
  The San Francisco Giants have signed Melky Cabrera to a 1-year, $6 million deal and avoid arbitration, according to Enrique Rojas via twitter....

• Philadelphia Phillies, Cole Hamels Agree To $15 Million Deal - MLB Daily Dish
  The Philadelphia Phillies and left-handed starting pitcher Cole Hamels have agreed to a one-year, $15 million deal, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. The deal means that both sides will avoid an arbitration hearing.

• Diamondbacks, Joe Saunders, Agree to One Year Deal - MLB Daily Dish
  According to Jon Heyman from CBS Sports, the Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to a one year deal with left handed pitcher Joe Saunders. The deal is for $6 million.

• Houston Astros To Sign Jack Cust - MLB Daily Dish
  The Houston Astros and free agent Jack Cust have agreed to a one-year deal including a club option for 2013.

• Jamie Moyer Signs Minor League Deal with Rockies - MLB Daily Dish
  The great baseball Odysseus of our time, Jamie Moyer, is somewhere between the isle of Lesbos, the isle of Sirens, and returning home to the face that launched a thousand fly balls. Or something like that. Jamie Moyer, almost 50 freaking years old, is a baseball warrior and he's getting one last shot...

• Colorado Rockies, Rafael Betancourt Agree To Extension - MLB Daily Dish
  The Colorado Rockies and right-handed reliever Rafael Betancourt have agreed to a contract extension, according to Enrique Rojas of ESPNDeportes. The extension guaranteed Betancourt's $4.25 million mutual option with the club for 2013, while also adding a team option for 2014.

• Rays Sign Will Rhymes, Three Others to Minor-League Deals - MLB Daily Dish
  The Tampa Bay #Rays have signed Will Rhymes, Jesus Feliciano, Romulo Sanchez & Matt Torra to minor-league deals.

• Cleveland Indians to Sign Ryan Spilborghs - MLB Daily Dish
  The Cleveland Indians have agreed to a deal with Ryan Spilborghs, according to Troy Renck and confirmed by Jon Heyman. This confirms the rumor we heard from Heyman a few days ago in which the Texas Rangers were also interested.

• Tampa Bay Rays, Carlos Pena Sign 1-Year, $7.25 M Deal - MLB Daily Dish
  The Tampa Bay Rays have signed Carlos Pena, according to Jon Heyman. Just minutes ago rumors were being floated by Tim Brown that the two sides were in talks, and now the deal appears to be done. The deal is for one year and $7.25 million, according to Jon Heyman.

• Houston Astros Sign Chris Snyder - MLB Daily Dish
  The Houston Astros have signed former Arizona and Pittsburgh catcher Chris Snyder

• Indians Acquire Kevin Slowey - MLB Daily Dish
  According to Jon Morosi, the Indians have acquired Kevin Slowey from the Rockies in exchange for Zach Putnam. The Rockies acquired the 27-year old right-hander back in early December, but they have the rotation depth to flip him for a prospect.

• Texas Rangers, Brad Hawpe Agree to Minor League Deal - MLB Daily Dish
  The Texas Rangers have signed first baseman/outfielder Brad Hawpe to a minor league deal, according to the team.

• Rockies Acquire Marco Scutaro - MLB Daily Dish
  Jim Bowden of ESPN tweets that the deal is done. The Red Sox have traded Scutaro to Colorado in exchange for Clayton Mortensen. No cash is involved....
