Ken Rosenthal is reporting today that Yoenis Cespedes is being actively tracked by several teams, including the Detroit Tigers, Miami Marlins, and the Chicago Cubs. Jorge Arangure takes issue with Rosenthal's verbiage:
- Twitter / @Ken_Rosenthal - "Sources: #Tigers, #Marlins, #Cubs most active on Cespedes. All three tracking him closely in DR. Still no word on when he will be FA."
- Twitter / @jorgearangure - "wonder what it means teams are being active on Cespedes since can't offer contract yet. teams don't do illegal things in DR right?" <-- whoops!
- Report: Tigers, Marlins, Cubs most active in pursuit of Yoenis Cespedes - detroitnews.com
"The Tigers have been high on Cespedes, 26, all offseason, but the season-ending knee injury to DH Victor Martinez might've convinced them to step up their interest. If they acquired Cespedes — who is believed to be in line for a deal worth as much as $50 million — he could play left field, and Delmon Young could switch to DH."
