Padres Avoid Arbitration with Clayton Richard

UPDATE: Bernie Wilson of the Associated Press tweets that the contract is worth $2.705M.

The San Diego Padres avoided arbitration with LHP Clayton Richard, agreeing to terms with him on a one-year contract. Richard, 28, posted a 3.88 ERA in 18 starts with San Diego in 2011.

The Padres have already agreed to one-year contracts with Chase Headley, Nick Hundley, Tim Stauffer, Joe Thatcher, and John Baker. They now have one remaining unsigned arbitration-eligible player: RHP Dustin Moseley.

Moseley, 30, posted a 3.30 ERA in 20 starts with the Padres last year. 2012 represents his first year of arbitration eligibliity. In 353 innings, Moseley has a career 90 ERA+ and 1.70 K/BB.
