According to Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com, the Los Angeles Angels are among four finalists for landing free agent RHP Francisco Cordero. Cordero, 36, has saved 30+ games in each of the last five seasons, posting a 142 ERA+ over that span. For his career, he has a 145 ERA+, 8.8 K/9, and 2.14 K/BB in 753 appearances (785 innings). In terms of remaining right-handed relievers on the free agent market, Cordero is the only established closer of the bunch.
The Baltimore Orioles had expressed interest in Cordero, and there had also been previous speculation that the Los Angeles Angels could land him as a stopgap closer.
