Baltimore Orioles Notes: Talking Koji Uehara, Wilson Betemit Deal, Release Kyle Hudson

In charge of a team's offseason for the first time in nearly a decade, Baltimore Orioles general manager Dan Duquette has made some interesting roster decisions this winter, to say the least. Let's take a look at the latest out of Baltimore rumors, news and notes...

  • It was reported earlier the Blue Jays were discussing a deal for right-handed reliever Koji Uehara, and now the Dallas Morning News is reporting the Baltimore Orioles are also interested in bringing back the reliever. The O's traded Uehara last season at the trade deadline in exchange for starter Tommy Hunter and corner infielder Chris Davis.
  • Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports writes the Orioles released outfielder Kyle Hudson, who was designated for assignment earlier in the month. The O's had to trade or release him, and they opted for the latter.

  • I didn't think much of the Wilson Betemit one-year deal at first, but now I'm kind of confused because it's actually a two-year deal with an option, according to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun. The Orioles are trying to rebuild in every way possible, and the money used here could have been reallocated to building the farm system, instead of worrying about an extra win or two in the regular season.
