The Texas Rangers have signed free-agent outfielder Kyle Hudson to a minor league deal that includes an invite to spring training, the club announced via Twitter.
Hudson, a former fourth-round selection, spent three seasons in the Orioles system before he was released this week. He spent time in High-A ball, Double-A and Triple-A before getting a cup of coffee with the major league team. At the big league level, the 25-year-old outfielder had four hits (all singles) in twenty-nine plate appearances and didn't walk once.
The Baltimore Orioles released Hudson earlier in the week, to make room on their roster for newly signed southpaw Wei-Yin Chen. They couldn't send him to the minors because he was "draft excluded" as Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports notes.
