Baseball America's Matt Eddy and Baseball Prospectus' Kevin Goldstein reported a ton of signings throughout the day yesterday. Since we couldn't get to them all, I used some down time to organize the signings division-by-division; without further ado, let's check out the AL Central signings...
- Corey Smith, arguably the most notable player of the AL Central signings, will join the Chicago White Sox organization reports Kevin Goldstein. Smith, a corner infielder, was a first-round draft pick back in 2000.
- The Minnesota Twins signed former Pirate Steven Pearce to a minor league deal, reports Kevin Goldstein. Pearce, 28, has played at the major league level for the Pirates each of the past five years.
- Lastly, the Detroit Tigers signed outfielder/second baseman Eric Patterson, reports Matt Eddy. As Eddy notes, Patterson joins his fifth organization in five years. After being acquired by the Padres in the Adrian Gonzalez trade, the 28-year-old was released a year later.
