Brad Hawpe is close to signing a minor league deal with a spring training invite and is drawing interest from at least three teams according to Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com. T.R Sullivan, also with MLB.com, confirms that one of the teams interested is the Texas Rangers:

  • Minor Moves: Eyes on Hawpe - Jesse Sanchez | MLB.com
"At least three teams have expressed interest veteran outfielder Brad Hawpe and he could be close to signing a Minor League deal that includes an invite to Spring Training, according to an industry source."
  • Hawpe Close to Signing Minor League Contract | HardballTalk
"Despite the surgery, Hawpe is said to be healthy and ready to compete for a big league job during spring training. The 32-year-old is coming off two terrible seasons, but handles right-handed pitching pretty well and his home-road splits aren’t as crazy as you’d think for someone who played a large chunk of games in Colorado."
  • Rangers show interest in Hawpe - T.R. Sullivan | MLB.com
"The Rangers are among the teams that are showing interest in free agent first baseman/outfielder Brad Hawpe. The Rangers are looking for some depth at first base in case Mitch Moreland is slow coming back from wrist surgery."

We'll be sure to update when the other two are revealed or when he signs, whichever comes first.
