The Boston Red Sox will interview former big league catcher Brad Ausmus for their open managerial position early next week, reports Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe:

The 43-year-old Ausmus does not have any big league managing experience but he has served as a special assistant to baseball operations for the San Diego Padres since 2010, and he did briefly manage Israel’s team for the World Baseball Classic before they were eliminated from the competition last month.
The Red Sox are expected to begin their interview process some time in the next few days, starting with Dodgers third base coach Tim Wallach. Wallach and Ausmus are the only candidates that have been officially logged as interviewees, but Blue Jays manager John Farrell may also be in contention for the position.
