The National League Pennant comes down to one more game. The San Francisco Giants have clawed back from a 3-1 deficit to even the NL Championship Series heading into tonight’s Game 7 against the St. Louis Cardinals. Giants right-hander Matt Cain faces off against Cardinals veteran Kyle Lohse.
While Lohse may not be the first name to come to mind when considering Cardinals’ starting pitchers, he has been arguably their best starter this season. Over 33 starts, spanning 211 innings, the 34-year-old maintained an ERA of 2.86.
Like his counterpart, Cain was the premier Giants’ pitcher in 2012, as he posted an ERA of 2.79 over 32 starts. Cain lost to Lohse and the Cardinals during his last appearance.
After scoring a combined 44 runs over their first seven playoff games, the Cardinals’ bats have gone silent. St. Louis has been held to one run or less in three of its past five games.
San Francisco’s offense was erratic over the first four games of the NLCS, but they’ve bounced back to score 11 runs over their last two victories.
Who do you expect to win Game 7 and advance to face the Detroit Tigers in the 2012 World Series?
