Mariners rumors: Chone Figgins wants out of Seattle

Chone Figgins has had enough of Seattle and it seems like Mariners fans have had enough of him.

Seattle Mariners infielder/outfielder Chone Figgins has had enough and wants to cut ties with the team, as he told reporters, including John Hickey of sportspressnw.com, "I can’t take 2 more years of this."

Figgins and the Mariners watched another disappointing season come to end yesterday. Over 166 at-bats this year he hit only .181/.262/.271 with nine extra-base hits.

The Mariners signed Figgins prior to the 2010 season, inking the free agent to a four-year, $36 million contract that includes a $9 million vesting option for 2014. He was expected to combine with Ichiro Suzuki to provide Seattle with a potent one-two punch atop the order.

In 2009 Figgins hit .298/.395/.393 with 30 doubles, seven triples and five home runs with 42 stolen bases in 59 attempts. Over eight seasons with the Los Angeles Angels he hit .291/.363/.388.

Unfortunately for the Mariners, they haven’t gotten what they hoped for in Figgins, as he’s only mustered a line of .227/.302/.283 in Seattle. He’ll turn 35 in January and is set to make $8 million next season.
