Yankees rumors: NY looking for upgrade over Jayson Nix

New York is on the lookout for player to man shortstop and third base for up to 100 games, a tough find on the current market.

The New York Yankees are on the hunt for an "upgrade" over Jayson Nix, seeking a utility infielder that could spell Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez at short and third next season for around a hundred games, reports Ken Davidoff of the New York Post:

The Yankees could have trouble finding the infielder they are looking for on the open market. The name that most fits the bill, Maicer Izturis, is already off the market, and Marco Scutaro is considered a near-lock to re-sign with the San Francisco Giants.

The only other name available that could be considered an upgrade over Nix is Jeff Keppinger, who put together a career year with the Rays this past season, hitting .325/.367/.439 with nine home runs in one hundred fifteen games.

The Yankees could also explore their options via trade if the free-agent possibilities seem too thin.
