The Detroit Tigers have reached a two-year agreement with free agent outfielder Torii Hunter, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports:

Hunter visited with the Tigers yesterday and when he left they were reportedly the favorite to sign the veteran. The Texas Rangers were still in the hunt, as Hunter lives in Texas and it was believed this would give them an advantage if they extended a competitive offer.

However, Hunter ultimately decided to join the Tigers. He made it clear entering the offseason that his number one goal was joining a team that would provide him an opportunity to win a World Series, one goal he’s yet to accomplish during an otherwise impressive career.

Hunter joins a Tigers' lineup that already includes the likes of Austin Jackson, Prince Fielder, Miguel Cabrera and a returning Victor Martinez.

Over 534 at-bats for the Los Angeles Angels last season Hunter hit .313/.365/.451 with 24 doubles and 16 home runs. He owns a career line of .277/.335/.466 over 16 years in the majors.
