The Miami Marlins have claimed left-hander Scott Maine off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays, reports Tim Dierkes of MLBTradeRumors.com:
The Marlins claimed Scott Maine off of waivers from the Blue Jays, MLBTR's Tim Dierkes has learned.
Maine was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays last week. The team had recently selected the left-hander off waivers from the Cleveland Indians. It’s been a season of waiver claims for Maine, as the Indians acquired him in a similar fashion from the Chicago Cubs at the end of August.
Maine spent last season with the Cubs’ and Indians’ major and minor league clubs. Over a combined 30 appearances spanning 26 2/3 innings with the Cubs and Indians the 27-year-old maintained an ERA of 6.08. Over 30 appearances spanning 36 1/3 innings at the Triple-A level in 2012 he posted an ERA of 2.72.
Maine owns a career mark of 5.59 with 9.3 strikeouts per nine innings and 4.8 walks per nine innings over three seasons at the major league level.
