The Toronto Blue Jays are expressing interest in several free agent starting pitchers, including Zack Greinke, Anibal Sanchez, Kyle Lohse and Ryan Dempster, reports Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports:
The Toronto Blue Jays are casting a wide net in their search for rotation upgrades, already showing interest in free agents Zack Greinke, Anibal Sanchez, Kyle Lohse and Ryan Dempster, among others, according to major-league sources.
The Blue Jays are looking to upgrade their starting rotation, which Morosi points out finished the season with the sixth worst ERA in the majors (4.82). Their rotation was decimated by injuries throughout the year which certainly did help their cause.
Greinke figures to be the prize of free agency, but there are several other viable starters available. Prior to joining the Detroit Tigers this summer Sanchez had been solid with the Miami Marlins. After early struggles he rebounded to pitch well for Detroit.
Lohse quietly put together an impressive season with the St. Louis Cardinals, who have the pitching depth to allow the right-hander to walk. Dempster pitched extremely well for the Chicago Cubs before struggling following a trade to the Texas Rangers.
