Royals moves: Jason Bourgeois, Jeremy Jeffress, Guillermo Moscoso

The Royals have claimed right-hander Guillermo Moscoso off waivers from the Rockies and catcher Brett Hayes from the Marlins.

The Kansas City Royals have claimed right-hander Guillermo Moscoso off waivers from the Colorado Rockies and catcher Brett Hayes from the Miami Marlins, reports Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star.

To make room on their roster for Moscoso and Hayes the Royals designated right-hander Jeremy Jeffress and outfielder Jason Bourgeois for assignment.

Moscoso appeared in 23 games, including three starts, for the Rockies last season. The 28-year-old maintained an ERA of 4.16 over 57 major league appearances, including 24 starts.

Hayes, 28, hit .202/.229/.254 with six doubles over 114 at-bats for the Marlins last season. He’s hit .217/.266/.361 over four years and 332 at-bats at the major league level.

Bourgeois hit .258/.303/.323 with two doubles, one triple and five stolen bases in nine attempts this season for the Royals. The 30-year-old owns a line of .261/.306/.324 over five major league seasons.

Jeffress, 25, allowed 14 runs over 13 1/3 innings in 2012. He’s posted an ERA of 4.89 over three seasons in the majors.
