The Miami Marlins have not waited long to shop one of their new acquisitions. The club reportedly called around on new shortstop Yunel Escobar last week, well before their trade with the Blue Jays was made official, reports Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports:

The Escobar put up disappointing numbers in 2012 – and does not have the best reputation when it comes clubhouse dynamics – so it is possible the Marlins do not view the Cuban shortstop as a long-term solution at short.
Escobar hit just .253/.300/.344 with nine home runs in one hundred forty-five games this past season and grabbed headlines when he was suspended three games for displaying a homophobic slur in Spanish across his eye-black during a game.
If the Marlins do part ways with Escobar, one of their other new acquisitions, the young Adeiny Hechavarria, could take over for them at short.
