The 27-year-old Longoria was already signed to one of the most team-friendly contracts in baseball, a six-year, $47.5 million deal signed in 2008 after he had played in just one MLB game. Now, with an extra six years and $100 million added to his contract, Longoria is owed $136 million over the next ten seasons, plus a club option for 2023.
The 2008 AL Rookie of the Year and three-time All-Star is a career .271/.361/.516 hitter and has averaged 26 home runs and 91 RBI in his five big-league seasons.
